GREEN LANE DIARY PROGRAM - 2024

Building on its past success, the Green Lane Diary Program continues to empower students in 2024, fostering creativity and environmental awareness. Through interactive learning and creative expression, the initiative nurtures young leaders dedicated to sustainability, reinforcing the importance of eco-conscious practices for a greener future.

 
Introduction to School Children:
 

Green Cross Sri Lanka engaged with selected schools to introduce the Green Lane Diary Competition 2024, guiding students on participation and environmental responsibility. This year, 4,450 diaries were distributed, encouraging students to document their ideas on sustainability. All completed diaries were collected by mid-October, marking another milestone in nurturing future eco-conscious leaders and promoting sustainable practices.

 
Green Lane Awards Ceremony 2024
 

The Awards Ceremony of the Green Lane Diary Project was held on December 23, 2024, at K.I.U. University, graced by distinguished guests, including Ms. Thishani Rodrigo, Project Director of the National Organization of Green Cross Sri Lanka and Chief of Global Strategic Partnerships at K.I.U. University; Mr. Chandana Egodahewa, Chief of the Information Technology Division of Green Cross Sri Lanka and K.I.U. University; Ms. S. Tharaka Weerasuriya, Founder and Chief Trainer of the Diya Vocational and Training Institute; and Ms. Amandi Liyanarachchi, Vice President of the Media Unit at the University of Ruhuna.

 

The event honored students and teachers with certificates and awards, recognizing winners of the poster art competition and the 90 finalists of the project. A special appreciation speech was delivered by Ms.Swarnalatha, a teacher from WP/JP Ihala Bomiriya Junior School.

 

On January 22, 2025, Sayani Sayara of WP/HO/Horana Royal College, the first-place winner, received a memento and certificate from Green Cross Japan, presented by Ms. Thishani Rodrigo Project Director of the National Organization of Green Cross Sri Lanka and Chief of Global Strategic Partnerships at K.I.U. University.
