This year we conducted the Environment Diary program amidst the COVID –Pandemic situation. Even though we conducted subprograms and contests in the previous year’s unfortunately we could only conduct the writing the diaries of the year 2020.

Introduction of the project to the school children

The staff members of Green Cross Sri Lanka visited the schools which were selected in the month of September to introduce the Green Lane Diary competition and explained the procedure on how and what to write on the distributed diaries. A total of 4383 books were distributed to the schools. After the students had finished writing, we were notified on the 28^th October 2020, and we collected all the diaries between 02^nd November 2020 to 04^th November 2020 amidst the lockdown of schools and imposed curfew in certain areas during the COVID 19 situation.

Award Ceremony 2020 – (as symbolically)

The Award Ceremony of the Green Lane Diary Program of 2020 was held on the 09th  of January 2021 under the COVID- 19 guidelines. The participants for this occasion were the four winners and their parents, the winning teacher, and a teacher relating to the winning student.  The winning students’ parents and the teacher appreciated the Green Lane Diary Program and also, they thanked Green Cross Sri Lanka and Green Cross Japan for implementing a small award ceremony under this prevailing situation.
