Donation of School Equipment for Forty Students - 2017
It is significant that the National Organization of Green Cross Sri Lanka undertook to implement this very valuable welfare facility for the benefit of around forty students belonging to low income group families undergoing studies at schools selected in the Colombo District at which the Green Lane Diary Program is conducted.
 
Furthermore, Hon.Shoo Iwasaki, the President of Green Cross Japan took the initiative to establish Green Cross Sri Lanka as the National Organization in 2005. From this time onwards during the last twelve years, the Green Lane Diary Program and various other projects were implemented by the Organization.
 
The Green Lane Diary Program on writing the diaries by the students of Grade 5 at selected schools in the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara took place and the Mitsubishi Corporation of Colombo Branch funded the project continuously. The funds needed for implementing this welfare facility were obtained consequent to a balance from the Green Lane Diary Program of 2015. However, approval was received for this welfare program granted by Mitsubishi Corporation. 
 
According to this program, the objective was to supply essential school equipment such as school bags, vouchers for the purchase of school uniforms and school shoes, at the rate of Rs.1500/= for a pair of shoes, Rs.1000/= for school uniforms and Rs.1000/= a school bag.
 
The donation of funds above were distributed on 28th January 2017 at the Auditorium of  Kaatsu International University to the selected students graced by Ven.Galagama Dhammaransi Thero, Advisory Board member of Green Cross Sri Lanka and Executive Officer of Commercial Division of Mitsubishi Corporation  Colombo Branch Mrs. Ayomi Warnakulasooriya.
 
All the students who received the donation were very happy and they wanted us to thank the donors for the valuable gifts.
